What’s happening?
Sprint is a bus priority corridor that will link Walsall with the centre of Birmingham, Solihull and Birmingham Airport - joining the A34 with the A45 to create one continuous bus route.
Sprint will bring benefits for all bus passengers: providing more reliable, regular and predictable journey times, connecting our region and protecting our environment too.
A milestone project, Sprint is being delivered by Transport for West Midlands and forms part of the region-wide ambition to improve the public transport experience.
Lode Lane
Due to planned roadworks on Lode Lane, the following overnight one-way road closures will be in place between 10pm to 6am
- Northbound closure (towards A45 Coventry Road) on Monday 19 to Wednesday 21 October 2026
- Southbound closure (towards Solihull town centre) on Wednesday 21 to Friday 23 October 2026
Signed Diversions will be in place for all vehicles including bus services.
Hermitage Road
Due to essential works on Hermitage Road, a one-way closure will be in place on Hermitage Road on Monday 26 October from 8pm to 6am
Traffic travelling from Moat Lane direction will be affected by the carriageway closure with a signed diversion route in place via Moat Lane and Hermitage Road.
Both bus stops on Hermitage Road will be temporarily closed while the work is being carried out.
Travel tips
You will still be able to get to where you need to go, but consider the following:
