Changes to Solihull Park & Ride Car Park

Solihull station Park and Ride Car Park is now operated by Excel Parking Services, on behalf of Transport for West Midlands.

Key changes and impacts 

Operation of the car park

  • The car park is now operated by Excel Parking Services on behalf of Transport for West Midlands

Changes and tariffs

  • Monthly and annual car park passes have been discontinued. TfWM will honour any live monthly or annual passes until expiry
  • Free parking has increased from 20 minutes to 30 minutes and is available anywhere in the car park
  • All other charges remain the same

Paying for parking

Use the Swift Parking app and pay for parking using a linked debit or credit card.

Please note:

  • you can only pay for all-day or all-week parking using the Swift Parking app. If you are parking for less than a day, other methods will be cheaper.
  • if you pay for 1 week parking at Solihull Car Park using the app, you won't be able to purchase parking at any other car park using the app during that time.

Swift card holders can also use pay-as-you-go credit to pay for parking.

You can pay for parking in multiple ways using Connect Cashless. For all methods you will have to quote the car park's location code which is 5454.

There are ticket machines in the car park that you can use to pay for parking using credit or debit card.

At the moment, the machines do not accept cash payments. However, an operative is at the station from midday-7pm Monday to Saturday and midday-4pm on Sundays who can accept cash payments.

You can no longer use the RingGo app or the station booking office to pay for parking.

Frequently Asked Questions

The car park is operated by Excel Parking Services on behalf of West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA), 16 Summer Lane, Birmingham, B19 3SD.

The car park is open every day for public transport users and is 24 hours.

There is a weekly charge of £22.50 available via the phone, web and app payment methods. For daily prices see the tables below:

0-30 minutes arriving at any time per day


Arriving before midday

£6.00 (until 2:30am)

Arriving after midday and before 6pm

£3.50 (until 2:30am)

Motorcycle parking


Either pay the penalty charge following the procedures on the penalty charge notice or if you want to dispute it follow the appeals procedure on the penalty notice. 

DO NOT attempt to do this via the TfWM customer Relations Team.

If you choose to ignore the notice, then the penalty charge will increase with time and Excel Parking will on behalf of WMCA follow the due process to recover the outstanding moneys. This could include court action.

There are several options via which people can pay: 

  • There are two payment machines located within the car park which accept card and contactless
  • An app is being developed by Novoville as part of the Swift offer to allow people to pay – they do not have to be Swift customers
  • People can also pay via web, phone or SMS using Excel’s parking services 
  • Cash is accepted by paying the operative on-site.



Via machine – card payment

  • Type vehicle registration into the machine
  • Choose pay by card
  • Tap contactless or insert card and pin

Via operative – cash payment

Currently, the ticket machine on site does not take cash, only cards.

However, there is an operative on site 12-7pm Mon-Sat and 12-4pm Sun who can take cash payments.

This is temporary - we hope to be able to take cash through payment machines in the coming weeks.

  • Download Swift parking app on iOS or Android
  • Register a user account and payment card
  • Top up your account
  • Select the time that you would like to park at Solihull P&R

By Web

By text (first time users)

  •  Text 0345 434 8008 within 10 Minutes of parking and quote Location Code 5454, how long you want to park for and your payment card details
  • Reply to the text with your Vehicle Registration Number.
  • You will receive a text confirming your parking details.
  • Users are now registered and parking is now paid

By text (registered users)

  • Text 0345 434 8008 within 10 minutes of parking.
  • Your phone number will be recognised and you'll be offered the same parking you had before.
  • Accept or amend the details as required.
  • Your parking will be processed and your payment will be confirmed.


  • Text 'Park', followed by your payment cards 3 digit security code and the time you require parking for, to 68680
  • E.g. park CSV 801 to park for 1 day

You can pay and extend your parking by text message and view your parking history online. Calls from your mobile phone are charged at the local rate. Text messages are charged at your standard network rate.
