West Midlands Cycle Hire is changing
From February to March 2026, the current cycle hire and e-scooter services will end.
A new cycle hire and e-scooter scheme operated by Lime will launch from 1 April 2026.
This page explains what’s changing, when it’s happening, and what it means for you. We will update it as more information is confirmed.
You can also sign up to receive updates about cycle hire changes by email. Choose cycling and walking from the list.
What's happening
The current West Midlands Cycle Hire scheme will close at the end of March 2026.
- Existing cycle hire bikes and e-scooters will be removed
- New bikes and e-scooters will be introduced by Lime from 1 April 2026
- Most docking stations will remain in the same locations, though some may change.
These changes will take place in stages between February and March 2026.
What this means for you
Bikes, e-scooters and docking stations:
Bikes and e-scooters will be removed and replaced in phases across the West Midlands.
Some locations will transition earlier than others. While the scheme will not be available between removal and launch, this approach allows the new service to open from 1 April 2026.
Most docking stations will stay in the same places. Where changes are planned, we will share updates in advance where possible.
Using the service until March 2026
You can continue to use cycle hire and e-scooter services through the Beryl app until the end of March 2026.
There will be changes to passes and pricing during this period.
- The purchase of monthly bike only passes will be removed from 13 February 2026
- Information about unused credit or refunds will be shared directly with users and published on this page
You do not need to contact customer services unless advised to do so.
